Bolt - Circadian Rhythm

Circadian Rhythm is a raw and energetic album that captures the absolutely frenzied energy that is a trademark of a Bolt performance. Bolt incorporates myriad styles ranging from jazz to new wave to metal to post-punk giving the listener a bipolar musical experience. The opener “Gearshift” wastes no time in going straight for the jugular with a barrage of angular metal hysteria that almost makes one have the gasp for air. In comparison, “Isis” and “Charme Louche” are bordering on elegant incorporating smooth rhythms and sparse guitar, bass and bell work.

In a way, Circadian Rhythm is an album that lies at the unlikely intersection where the interests of prog rockers, indie rockers and metalheads merge. For the prog rockers, there are sophisticated riffs and challenging time signatures; for indie rockers, a general sense of innovation and adventure; and for the metalheads, relentless and vigorous riffage. Perhaps for once we can all get along..
