Elf Project Signs with 10T for Release of “Mirage”
Monday, June 8th, 2009 by 10TRecords10T Records is proud to announce the pending release of the new full length CD release by Elf Project, entitled “Mirage” on June 23, 2009, with a retail street date following on July 21st.
Hailing from the greater New York area, Elf Project is the unique musical vision of multi-instrumentalist Carl Schultz (vocals, bass, keyboards, guitars, electric sitar, theremin, production). Blending a variety of influences into a cohesive whole, the Elf Project sound is hard to pin down within narrow genre specifications. Taking classic 70’s era progressive rock and infusing it with a strong dose of 60’s era psychedelia and hard rock, Schultz and his collaborators successfully merge these various elements into an infectious vibe that never sounds dated.
Layers of melodic vocal harmonies sit atop a foundation of driving and propulsive rhythms while snaky guitar riffs and lush keyboard washes percolate throughout the mix. The music is full of unexpected twists and turns; from bright, hook-laden vocal-oriented pop stylings to complex proggy instrumentals or the sudden introduction of Middle Eastern motifs or classical guitar.
“Elf Project is pleased to announce their brand new partnership with 10T Records,” says founder Carl Schultz. “The members of Elf Project look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with 10T for many years to come. It’s great to be associated with all of the other great bands on the label!”
“We knew before the opening track of Mirage was through that Elf Project had something unique and different going on,” says 10T Records president, Steve Carroll. “Not only does Elf Project fit the forward-thinking philosophy of 10T Records, they don’t sound like anyone else on the current progressive rock scene. They are truly one of a kind and a band not to be missed!”
The band has just completed shooting a new video for the track “Lessons” from the CD “Mirage” that will soon be available on the video portion of the Elf Project 10T mini-site.
